About
Me the Artist/Photographer
My Name is Dave Swinnerton most of
my work goes under the name "DAVEART" I live in the county of
herefordshire with my partner Tina and her son .
I was born and raised in what was formally known as Staffordshire now
known as (part of) West Midland, I was always interested in art from a
very young
age and wanted to be an artist, but my father said artists will never
make money and would always be poor, and convinced me to go into
engineering, so went to a polytechnic collage where I studided
Mechanical Industrial Engineering.
I then went in to this area of work, working on projects like the
structual construction of British Sugar in Venezuela in south america,
Bridge construction for a pipe line for a scotish wisky distillery, and
so forth but was never really happy in my work. Then I took up painting
as I did go to art school fo a while before going on to study
engineering, then progressed to digital photography in 2006. I
did film photography back in the 1970's until the price of silver oxide
went up very steeply then decided that it was getting too expensive.
During this time I did some wedding and portrait photography, and as an
hobby did some macro and wild life photography. My art work is quit
different from my photography but their is some crossover in
portrait and landscape areas.
Both my art and photography are treated as different sides of art,
since digital came along, as the quality of digital has improved to
film
standards and in some areas like sharpness and detail has surpast that
of film.
My main area of photography is wildlife and candid urban portaits. I
have returned to wedding photography only recently, as for my art
work mainly in acrylic which cover a broader spectrum of art than my
photography from surreal to portraits to landscape and seascapes.
I hope you enjoy viewing my work. All my work is for sale
paintings are
original, I do not do reproductions or print copies, my photos are
produced onto photo developemnt paper in the same way film prints
are made so they have the superior quility and durability, that is not
possible with injets or lazerjet technology, so as far as print sizes
go these are to a max of 12 x18 inch prints as this is the max size of
the developer printers go at the moment, but canvas prints can be made
much large upto 100 inches long and can be rap-around on 1 inch thick
canvas frames.
